Part 1Kawachi Ondo Meets Okinawan Music
Kawachi Ondo has been evolving as popular folk songs, originated in Kawachi Region in Osaka, since 400 years ago. Okinawan music has its unique history and melodies. Both have been beloved and enjoyed among Japanese people. Now, it’s time to introduce them to the world.

Part 2Special Live Performance of Japanese Instruments

This project is being commissioned under the Japan Cultural Expo 2.0 (Commissioned-type) program for fiscal year 2023.
The Osaka Prefectural and City governments and the Osaka Culture and Arts Projects Organizing Committee are striving to create an environment in which everyone can enjoy Osaka’s diverse arts and culture during Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
This project is a part of that effort, in which we endeavor to improve the environment for universal enjoyment of entertainment, e.g., through nighttime performances and multilingual commentary.

Special access of Yamamoto Noh Theater
A special tour of the Yamamoto Noh Theater, a Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
Visitors can also enjoy special displays and activities, like trying on Noh masks and costumes.

Getting There
5 min walk from Exit 4 of Tanimachi 4-chome Sta.(C18, T23) on the Osaka Metro Tanimachi and Chuo Lines. From the exit, head north along Tanimachi-suji Ave. Turn left at the first corner (Hotel Sun White). Cross a street and it's immediately on your left.

Yamamoto Noh Theater
A Noh theater, which nestles in an Osaka business district. Built in 1927, its near-century of history has been eventful. It burnt down during WWII but was rebuilt in 1950. In December 2006, it was officially designated a Registered Tangible Cultural Property, and remains a priceless example of the Tanimachi Noh Theater tradition.

PR events will be held to promote the CJPO Special Evening Performance Resonance of Japanese Musical Instruments on Friday, November 24, 2023, and the Special Free Opening of the Yamamoto Noh Theater from Monday, November 27 to Sunday, December 10, 2023.

Tombori, a spot visited by many foreign tourists, will be the venue for experience-based events and stage performances.
This is an opportunity to experience the culture and arts that Osaka is proud of and to see authentic traditional performing arts free of charge.
